Like most Cuban families, Lumey and Domingo wanted a better life for their daughters, Lexi and Sheila. Six years ago, Lumey and Domingo arrived in Miami, Florida without their daughters (it would have been too risky). They had a goal: get their daughters to the U.S. and make all of their dreams come true!
The first step, of course, was to make and save money. Lumey and Domingo did cleaning jobs, construction jobs and anything else they could find — no job was too small! Every job was an opportunity, and every opportunity was one step closer to being all together as a family again.
Once they had enough money, Lumey & Domingo invested in their first food truck, "Xteak on Wheels." Five years later — through faith, hope, sacrifice, and determination — their red-orange food truck from Miami has helped transport them to where they are today: owners of a true Authentic Cuban Restaurant in one of Jacksonville's best-known neighborhoods…and moments away from having both of their daughters with them under one roof!
Lumey and Domingo are an example of what faith, hope, sacrifice, and determination can accomplish. This family is beyond grateful and appreciative to not just their family, friends, and faithful clients but most importantly to God.
